Finding Your IP and DNS Settings

Windows 7

  1. Click Windows Button (Bottom Left Corner) → Control Panel → Network and Internet → Network and Sharing Center → Change Adaptor Settings
  2. Locate the Local Area Connection in the Network Connections window.
  3. Right click once on the connection and select Properties. Click Yes to Continue if prompted.
  4. The Connection Properties window opens. Highlight Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click the Properties button.
  5. In the window that pops up make sure Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are both Selected.
  6. Click Ok at the bottom, then click Ok again to close those 2 windows.

Windows Vista

  1. Click Windows Button (Bottom Left Corner) → Network → Network and Sharing Center→ Manage network connections
  2. Locate the Local Area Connection in the Network Connections window.
  3. Right click once on the connection and select Properties. Click Yes to Continue if prompted.
  4. The Connection Properties window opens. Highlight Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click the Properties button.
  5. In the window that pops up make sure Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are both Selected.
  6. Click Ok at the bottom, then click Ok again to close those 2 windows.

Windows XP

  1. Click Windows Button (Bottom Left Corner) → All Programs → Accessories → Communications → Network Connections
  2. Locate the Local Area Connection in the Network Connections window.
  3. Right click once on the connection and select Properties. Click Yes to Continue if prompted.
  4. The Connection Properties window opens. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.
  5. In the window that pops up make sure Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are both Selected.
  6. Click Ok at the bottom, then click Ok again to close those 2 windows.

Mac OS

  1. Click the Apple Button (Top Left Corner) → System Preferences → Network
  2. In the bar on the left click on Built-In Ethernet.
  3. Make sure you are on the TCP/IP tab on the right.
  4. If Configure IPv4 is not set to Using DHCP then click the arrow and change it to Using DHCP.
  5. Make sure Configure IPv6 is set to Automatically.
  6. Click on the PPPoE Tab and make sure that Connect using PPPoE is NOT Checked.
  7. Click the Apply Now button.
