Finding Your IP and DNS Settings
Windows 7
- Click Windows Button (Bottom Left Corner) → Control Panel → Network and Internet → Network and Sharing Center → Change Adaptor Settings
- Locate the Local Area Connection in the Network Connections window.
- Right click once on the connection and select Properties. Click Yes to Continue if prompted.
- The Connection Properties window opens. Highlight Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click the Properties button.
- In the window that pops up make sure Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are both Selected.
- Click Ok at the bottom, then click Ok again to close those 2 windows.
Windows Vista
- Click Windows Button (Bottom Left Corner) → Network → Network and Sharing Center→ Manage network connections
- Locate the Local Area Connection in the Network Connections window.
- Right click once on the connection and select Properties. Click Yes to Continue if prompted.
- The Connection Properties window opens. Highlight Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click the Properties button.
- In the window that pops up make sure Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are both Selected.
- Click Ok at the bottom, then click Ok again to close those 2 windows.
Windows XP
- Click Windows Button (Bottom Left Corner) → All Programs → Accessories → Communications → Network Connections
- Locate the Local Area Connection in the Network Connections window.
- Right click once on the connection and select Properties. Click Yes to Continue if prompted.
- The Connection Properties window opens. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.
- In the window that pops up make sure Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are both Selected.
- Click Ok at the bottom, then click Ok again to close those 2 windows.
Mac OS
- Click the Apple Button (Top Left Corner) → System Preferences → Network
- In the bar on the left click on Built-In Ethernet.
- Make sure you are on the TCP/IP tab on the right.
- If Configure IPv4 is not set to Using DHCP then click the arrow and change it to Using DHCP.
- Make sure Configure IPv6 is set to Automatically.
- Click on the PPPoE Tab and make sure that Connect using PPPoE is NOT Checked.
- Click the Apply Now button.
